Mission and Vision

tidal marsh in Beaufort, South CarolinaSince its inception the Lowcountry Small Business Hub has provided critical business services enabled by focusing on the creation and sponsorship of the Lowcountry Small Business Hub public‐private partnership.

Whether reviewing national, state, or local data it is clear that small businesses and entrepreneurship have been identified as the most dominant sector in business and employment growth. Across our local geography there are a number of business, community organizations and coalition partners delivering, valuable support and services to small businesses. For example: the Chambers of Commerce working as advocates to ensure a fair and friendly environment for business development; the Carolina Lowcountry SCORE chapter, offering free confidential business counseling; USCB's Small Business Development Center; and the Lowcountry Economic Network.

With leadership from the Small Business Hub, a membership of more than 50 community organizations and local business leaders participate in monthly board meetings and quarterly member meetings that explore and sponsor initiatives supporting the creation and growth of small businesses.

Statement of Purpose

The Lowcountry Small Business Hub develops and supports an entrepreneurial-based economy in the South Carolina Lowcountry Region. With focus on the long-term economic growth of our community, this public‐private collaborative team cooperatively and efficiently organizes and aligns our development and training efforts to initiate and expand small business opportunities.

Carl Schramm, President and CEO of the Kauffman Foundation, states "Entrepreneurs will be the foundation of our nation's economic recovery because they start and grow businesses that create jobs." The Lowcountry Small Business Hub adopts this philosophy by providing resources, education, and coaching that sustain and grow our region's small businesses.

The diversity of organizations represented in the membership of the Lowcountry Small Business Hub has helped us adapt to the needs of our small business community, and direct our resources to address problems that when solved make a real difference to the success of our small business leaders. The Small Business Hub does not duplicate, but complements the services of other member partners.
